Bye Bye Garmin, Hello PIQ
Before I start to much, I do already have a Garmin G3 GPS, and to compare does two is not a proper way and they have two different use cases.
So for a week ago did I finally received my new GPS Mobitee with a PIQ Device.
And as a tech geek
didn't it take to many minutes before I installed and tried on my own garden
and test the PIQ Driving Range function.
But when I
installed all clubs, then couldn't I really choose what clubs I have, as an
example couldn't I register my 52° and 56° wedges. In by case do I called LW and SW.
And my putter doesn't have any space on the top of the club, so I can't install that in the app yet, but that is not PIQ fault.
After a few
shots did I really see some fun numbers and probably not the solution to a
perfect swing but at least guide lines how my swing looks like.
But after a
week did I finally got time to go at least 9 holes to test my new toy and what
should I say. I really like my Garmin how I easy could see an overview of the
golf course, and with the PIQ Mobitee do I need to bring up my phone to see the
Google Map view of the golf course and don't know if I want to bring up my
phone all the time. It takes too long time.
But when I
press the red button on the PIQ Device it talks to my phone and got the
distance to my choice of green front, center or back. That I really like,
accept I only could preconfigure one choice on phone.
But for me who
is a high HCP person only focus on the front of the green so in that case it is
good enough.
But when I
finally got some extra time did I bring up my phone and pull up an overview,
with club suggestions.
And maybe this
is great or at least learning how I play and suggest better in the future based
on my HCP.
But with that
suggestion bellow can I say direct, it will never work.
On this hole
#6 at Ã…kersberga GK did I use a Full Drive around 230m and then used PW and
then a 56° Wedge.
And I end up
with a Bogie and that is good enough for me to get 3p.
Maybe they
could connect their App with IBM Watson in the future to get a much better
Analytic part or club suggestions.
So over all,
did this round go very well and my overall impression was great.
How is
everything else?
The Mobitee
App, is not really user friend, I think they need to work a little bit more to
get it easy to use. But the Support they have has been good and the updates of
the course are much better then Garmin where Garmin does there update once a
quarter.
But what both vendors should do to reduce the amount of work and get a better service, is to interact with the local Golf covenant. Don't know how it works in other countries, but here in Sweden should it be easy to add a API support to update all courses in Sweden automatic every quarter or month.
