Manual Upgrade IBM Spectrum Protect 7.1.x to 8.1.x

Image
I'm ended up in a situations where a IBM Spectrum Protect (ISP) server was lock down with limitation who is allowed to login over SSH. The main reason of this is because the server was connected to a Linux based LDAP environment after the installation of ISP was done. So now did we end up in a situation where we not where able to let the local ISP user account couldn't ssh to itself. And because we couldn't ssh even though localhost to our ISP user (let's call it tsminst1). And I guess I'm not alone with this issue so I guess this could be a create blog post for my Spectrum Protect / TSM friends. First of all if you are using SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 you most run minimum SLES 11 Service Pack 4. Here is a quick and dirty how to upgrade your SLES 11 to SP4. For more information please go to following link: https://www.suse.com/support/kb/doc/?id=7016711 Before you start upgrade anything, make sure you backup the ISP database/volhistory and devic

Bye Bye Garmin, Hello PIQ

Image
Before I start to much, I do already have a Garmin G3 GPS, and to compare does two is not a proper way and they have two different use cases. So for a week ago did I finally received my new GPS Mobitee with a PIQ Device. And as a tech geek didn't it take to many minutes before I installed and tried on my own garden and test the PIQ Driving Range function. But when I installed all clubs, then couldn't I really choose what clubs I have, as an example couldn't I register my 52 ° and 56 ° wedges. In by case do I called LW and SW. And my putter doesn't have any space on the top of the club, so I can't install that in the app yet, but that is not PIQ fault.           After a few shots did I really see some fun numbers and probably not the solution to a perfect swing but at least guide lines how my swing looks like. But after a week did I finally got time to go at least 9 holes to test my new toy and what should I say. I really like my Garmi

Move a Spectrum Scale Filesystem to an new disk

Very few time but it's happened that you need to move a filesystem from one Disk system to another Disk system in IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS). And here is a little how to how to move a filesystem from one disk to another. Basic overview ·         Create the new disks in Linux ·         Create a NSD on the new disks ·         Add the new NSD to the file system ·         Remove the old NSDs and let Spectrum Scale to migrate the data automatic. ·         Delete the NSDs ·         Delete the Disks in Linux So let's start with Scanning the SCSI bus for new Disks on all NSD Servers [root@server01~] echo "- - -" > /sys/class/scsi_host/hostX/scan    Replace the X with the correct SCSI Host adapter. Create a NSD Stanza file on one of the Spectrum Scale Server, with your settings. Down below can you see an example how it can look like. %nsd: device=/dev/sdg nsd=mynewnsd01 servers=server01,server02,ser

Social Sales with Microsoft CRM, NOT!!!

Image
Now will I leave my Storage / Backup approach for a single blog, and be an end-user and show what I missing in our CRM System. Even if I evaluate other CRM Systems I’ll still missing functions that give me information and not the other way around where I give the CRM System information and use it as a documentation system.  I have look at both large systems such SAP, OpenSource as SugerCRM and web based such Microsoft CRM. I think the best CRM I found that was nearest my ideas is Salesbox.com. I really hope does guys do a great success. But in today’s blog will I explain what I want to see in our CRM System and as we are using Microsoft CRM do I really hope Microsoft read my blog and value my feedback. Every event I listen to Microsoft do they say “We are listening to our customers”. Show me that you are listening to me. I’m a customer. But today when I insert data to our CRM System I only get a sort of “To Do List” that I should work with. But that is only information
